Mothers Against

Senseless Killings

M.A.S.K... Is a group originated out of Chicago IL. by a woman of the name, Tamara Manasseh.  Inspired by the dedication and compassion of the Chicago IL organization, led the mothers of Evansville IN to form an Evansville chapter.

We to believe the tragedies of Aurora, Colorado and Sandy Hook Elementary School have done a great deal to show our society that senseless gun violence is not just the problem of poor people of color in the inner cities. This is an AMERICAN problem. We are hoping that with the creation of M.A.S.K. we can start on a grass roots level to begin to come together and organize parents with an emphasis on mothers and the power of the mother, to become a presence in the fight against the violence. My hope is that we will become a support mechanism for one another.

This organization will bring us together so that each can act as a supplemental force to the police and other law enforcement agencies to find ways to keep each of our children safe. We will organize to be a support to those who are fighting for stricter gun control by putting forth pieces of legislation as well as placing parents in locations and situations where our voices might be heard and our interests expressed.

We will organize to be another line of defense for one another. We will organize to bring awareness to the problems that so many of us face, that aren’t easily expressed by individual parents. We believe that if the violence is shown, much like the flagged draped coffins of soldiers arriving home, the nation and the world could see the casualties of everyday life in our communities.

Our belief is just as there are those who organize and demonstrate against unjust endless wars in this country, someone needs to organize and demonstrate against this one, this domestic war that is being waged in the inner cities and now the closest and quietest corners of this country. It needs to be the main topic in our nations discourse. Our goal is to turn our stories and concerns into more than just a mention on the evening news. Our children more than deserve it; their lives depend on it.
